The construction will start in final quarter of 2012.
Our Client
The German wind power developer BARD received permission
to build an offshore windfarm by the Dutch Ministry of Transport and Hydraulic
Engineering (Rijkswaterstaat) in December 2009. Adjacent to the German border,
approximately 35 miles north of the Island Schiermonnikoog will rise an
offshore wind farm (600 Mw output capacity) that will consist two adjoining offshore
wind farms with a capacity of 300 Mw each. The offshore wind farms are referred
to as ‘Buitengaats' and 'ZeeEnergie'.
Our Work
As the EPC (Engineering, Procurement
and Construction) contractor, Van Oord is responsible for the detailed design,
purchasing materials, installing the 120 foundations and wind turbines,
the high voltage stations as well as laying the infield and export cables. The
new installation vessel ‘AEOLUS' for offshore wind projects will be deployed on
the project for a period of two years. According
to planning, the construction will start in final quarter of 2012.
Our Result
The offshore wind farm will supply green electricity
for 1.5 million Dutch consumers, making it by far the largest sustainable
energy project in the Netherlands. After constructing the Princess Amalia Windpark in the Netherlands and the Belwind Phase I project off the Belgian Coast, this is Van
Oord's third major EPC contract. This new project confirms the company's strong and leading
position in offshore wind farm construction in North West Europe.
