Our client
Gazprom is developing the Yamal area with the aim to transport gas to its local network and Western Europe.

In May 2008 Van Oord was awarded a dredging and trenching project on the Yamal Peninsula in Northern Russia. Van Oord will execute the Baydaratskaya Bay Crossing Project as a contractor for the Russian company MRTS. The final client is Yamalgazinvest, part of Gazprom.

Our work
Van Oord executed the project with the trailing suction hopper dredger Utrecht during the ice-free window in 2008. The total contract value is approximately EUR 20 million.

The works entail the dredging and pumping ashore of sand for a reclamation area and dredging and backfilling works for a pipeline trench.

Our result
Van Oord Offshore has a good track record of working in Arctic conditions which played a key role in acquiring this project.
