Our client
The Burbo Offshore Wind Farm is situated on Burbo Flats in Liverpool Bay Area approximately 8 km North West of Liverpool, at a water depth of 10-20 m. Mammoet Van Oord was subcontractor to MT Hojgaard (foundations) and Siemens Windpower (Wind Turbine Generators), who received the contract from SeaScape Energy.

Our work
The Burbo Bank Offshore Wind Farm contained 25 turbines, each capable of producing a maximum expected power output of 3.6 Mw. Mammoet Van Oord has been responsible for the load-out, marine transport and installation of 25 foundations and Wind Turbine Generators (WTG's).

In June 2006, the monopiles and transition pieces were transported on board of coasters from Hoboken to the site were these coasters offloaded directly onto the Jumping Jack. By the end of July 2006 a total of 25 foundations had been successfully installed. Early May 2007, the Jumping Jack started with the transportation and installation of 25 Siemens 3.6 Mw turbines. Within two months all turbines were also successfully installed.

Our results
The installation operations of the foundations and turbines were completed in time, without incidents/accidents, to the total satisfaction of both main contractors.
