Capital dredging at Dighi Port

Our client
Dighi Port Ltd is the green field port at Dighi, 160 km south of Mumbai, Maharastra on the West Coast of India. Dighi Port is promoted by Balaji Infra Projects Ltd and is being developed as a deep draught port with initial capacity of approximately 14 million tonnes.

Our work
The contract covers the capital dredging of the approach channel, inner channel, turning basin and berth pockets which consists dredging of 23 million m3 in two phases using trailing suction hopper dredgers. It also includes 5 million m3 of dredged material for reclamation on shore. The target depth to achieve in phase-1 is -10.0 m CD and in the phase-2 varies.

Our results
Van Oord started in October 2008 using trailing suction hopper dredger Sagar Hansa and some weeks later Volvox Atalanta.
