Maintenance on Kochi Port, India
Our client
In the port of Kochi, in southern India, a refinery was expanded with an SPM buoy for the more economic trans-shipment of crude oil. The Port of Kochi is only 12 m deep and large tankers cannot enter the port, so a buoy had to be installed offshore in water depths of 30 m. The client was Kochi Refineries Limited. Refineries Limited
Our work
Van Oord was awarded a subcontract by Leighton to dredge a 6 km trench prior to the installation of a 15 km, 48" pipeline from the SPM buoy to the coast. The trench started in water depths of -2 m and ended at -8 m. For the dredging of the trench, the water injection vessel Sagar Manthan was used.
