Our client
The Lynn Inner Dowsing Test Pile is located near the Wash on the North
Sea Coast of the UK. The
objective of Centrica
Renewable Energy Ltd. was to test the site specific driveability of a steel monopile to a maximum depth of 35 m below seabed
level.
Our work
Apart from testing the specific driveability we also collected further
geotechnical and engineering information by monitoring. Mammoet Van Oord has been
responsible for the load-out, marine transport and installation of a single
steel monopile. The test pile has a diameter of 2 m, a wall thickness of 50 mm,
a length of 65 m and a weight of 165 ton.
Our results
The
installation operations of the test pile were successfully driven to a depth of
25.5 m below sea bed level in chalk soils and completed in time to the total
satisfaction of the client.
