Maintenance dredging of the Indian naval base in Mumbai
Our client
The headquarters of the Western Naval Command of the Indian Navy is located in Mumbai. Each year maintenance dredging is undertaken to maintain the depths in this vital Naval Installation and Indian Navy has regularly assigned this work to Van Oord since 1997.
Our work
The Maintenance work involves removal of approximately 1.15 million m³ of silt and soft soils each year. However what makes this work different is the operations within the high security areas and the near military precision that is demanded from Van Oord with respect to the quality and a dredging programme which has to blend perfectly into the Naval Planning.
Our results
Indian Navy assigning this Maintenance dredging for eleven years proves the trust of the client in Van Oord meeting the exacting standards of the Navy.
