Safety

Every year Van Oord presents two safety awards. One for a project team and one for the crew of the vessel. Both have demonstrated their desire to invest in a safer future.

The Hansje Brinker Award is for project teams, and the Vessel Safety Award for the crew of floating equipment. The QHSE Department inspects a number of the projects and vessels nominated for these awards, basing itself on a checklist. The project and vessel winners get the highest marks on the inspection.

The winner of the 2008 Hansje Brinker Award was the Limerick Tunnel project in Ireland; the winner of the 2008 Vessel Safety Award was the multipurpose ship Jan Steen.
