Our Quality, Safety, Healthy and Environment (QHSE) Department, located in Rotterdam, contributes to optimal conditions for success at our company. The department’s work enables Van Oord’s men and women to deliver the best work in an efficient and safe way.
Safety is a key indicator of our success. The department gives in-house safety training to staff and crew, both basic training and specialised courses for banks men and riggers. It also records accidents, incidents and near-misses, monitors corrective actions and conducts inspections on all health and safety matters.
QHSE also conducts the annual internal and external audits on the projects and on board the equipment. The audits are held to verify whether work is being executed according the ISO9001, ISM, ISPS and/or ISO14001 systems. It also sees to the application of quality and safety codes, such as ISM, ISPS and SOLAS, that apply to our main equipment.
To ensure Van Oord receives high-quality goods and services, the department also evaluates suppliers. QHSE provides support to our projects, by managing the quality of our project management work. This includes separate plans for HSE issues, environmental management, emergency plans and risk assessments.
