Aeolus contract renewed

On Thursday 2 February 2012, Van Oord renewed the contract for the Aeolus, an offshore wind turbine transport and installation vessel.

By renewing the contract, Van Oord has guaranteed that the Sietas Shipyard in Hamburg, Germany, will proceed with construction. Measuring 139 m in length, 38 m in the beam, and with a design draught of 5.7 m, the Aeolus will be outfitted with a crane capable of lifting 900 tonnes. In accordance with the contract, the vessel will be ready in the first quarter of 2013.

Van Oord is also retaining its option on the construction of a second installation vessel.
