Largest trailing suction hopper dredger in the world HAM 318 back in business

The HAM 318 extension project has been completed. The vessel now has a 37,293 m³ hopper capacity, making it the largest operational trailing suction hopper dredger in the world.

The project was executed at the COSCO shipyard in China. A mid-ship section measuring 52 metres and incorporating about 4,500 tonnes of steel has increased the HAM 318’s length to 228 metres. The vessel’s hopper capacity has increased from 23,783 m³ to 37,293 m³.

After its extension, HAM 318 returned to the Middle East, where it is deployed on the Palm Deira project to help build the third and largest palm island in Dubai.
