The position

Can you back up a rough estimate with a calculation down to the nearest decimal place? Your responsibilities
As a Cost Engineer, along with our tender teams you will be there at the start of all the projects by which Van Oord shapes the Dutch landscape. Making multidisciplinary budgets for often complex dredging, hydraulic engineering and infrastructure projects is what gets you out of bed in the morning, because you know that your budget can make the difference between being awarded a project or not. You don't just perform the calculations for projects, you really understand what is going on in the field and advise the tender team, based on your specialism, on the most cost-efficient design. So you start a new tender by working through all the project documentation and a tender kick-off with the team. With all the input, you start making calculations and where necessary you bring in outside help in order to be able to deliver input to the tender team as soon as possible. The deadlines are often pressing, so moving quickly and  have optimum communication with the team are key in this role.

Job requirements
Creating a detailed budgets to win tenders is in your blood. As a person, you are meticulous and analytical but above all a team player. In addition, you bring the following to the table:
● A Bachelor degree;
● at least 3 years work experience as a civil engineering cost estimator in dredging/reclamation, marine construction and/or infrastructure;
● Excellent command of the Dutch language is a mandatory requirement;
