The position

As a PQ and Tender Support Officer, you will support the commercial manager in organising and guiding the pre-qualification process.

What you can expect in daily practice: international, diverse and challenging projects of varying sizes passing across your desk every day. In order for Van Oord to be awarded their next project, a qualification and tender process must be carried out. You will be in a key position to make a difference right from the start by telling Van Oord’s story.

This process is accomplished mostly through answering relatively standard questions, but also by highlighting our extensive experience, innovations and sustainability programmes in a comprehensive way. The information required for this will often need to be gathered from colleagues and databases. Or you may need to act as a coordinator for complex ‘Requests for Proposals’ which will require collaboration with engineers, the commercial department and sometimes third parties, like joint venture partners or subcontractors.

The main goal is to make sure that Van Oord stands out and passes on to the tendering phase. During tendering, your assistance will sometimes be required to collect certificates, track records or write certain generic texts.

The role of a PQ and Tender Support Officer has growth opportunities towards becoming a Tender Engineer. Furthermore, and far from being irrelevant, you will work together with 8 other enthusiastic colleagues in the PQ and Tender Support Desk, which is part of the central Estimating & Engineering department. The PQ&T desk handles all pre-qualifications and supports tender teams in organising and composing bid books, bid writing, quality reviews and proof-reading.

Your responsibilities

  • Organising and managing both the procedure and content of pre-qualification processes, and RFIs/RFQs for offshore wind and offshore oil and gas projects
  • Compiling and writing RFI/RFQ documents and standardising documents
  • Coordination with various departments within Van Oord
  • Contribution to the improvement of procedures within the PQ process

Job requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or economics
  • 1 - 3 years of work experience within a similar field of work
  • An excellent command of the English language
  • Eye for lay-out and design
  • Customer focus and a representative attitude
  • Commercial insight
  • Be analytically strong with a focus on results and cooperation
  • Be self-reliant and pro-active
