The position

32 kilometres of dyke reinforcements and a new motorway. Cylindrical sluice gates and pumping stations that can discharge 235 m3 of water every second. Floodgates, a solar farm and the cutting for a unique fish migration river. All part of the renewal of the Afsluitdijk, a project to which we will be devoting all our Marine Ingenuity over the coming years. Could you be the right-hand man or woman for the chief Project Controller and would you like to share responsibility for finance and control on a project worth millions? If so, apply for the role of Project Controller at Van Oord!

Your responsibilities
As Project Controller, you will make your own contribution to securing Lely's heritage. We will be counting on you when it comes to setting up, implementing and managing the finance & control aspects of the project. To name a few of those: you will be responsible for ensuring that the cash management is reliable, that the project administration can withstand any scrutiny, that sound financial reports are published in good time and that the various audits and tax affairs are meticulously managed. Moreover, you will always be available for questions from the Project Manager and the rest of the team. In other words, you will have an important role within a large, prestigious project that is both organizationally and financially complex; a project you can be sure will present you with plenty of challenges every day and call on your knowledge and ingenuity from Den Oever to Kornwerderzand.

Job requirements
You will be working under the management of the chief project controller, who will be supplied by one of our partners. As such, you will need the ability to cooperate, a focus on results and powers of persuasion. At the same time, you will be representing Van Oord, as reflected by your integrity and problem-solving and flexible attitude. In addition, you will bring the following to the table:

  • a completed degree in business economics at higher vocational (HBO) level;
  • 3 to 5 years work experience, preferably within a project environment;
  • software skills, such as Excel and ERP packages, preferably SAP or Unit4;
  • excellent command of the Dutch and English language, both orally and in writing.

We offer
Over a period of four years, from your base in Den Oever you will make an essential contribution to an important and visible project, on which we will be working at the limits of what is technologically, financially and ecologically possible. A project that the whole world will be watching to see what the Netherlands are (re)building this time. After those four years, we will together look for a new challenge for you – at our headquarters in Rotterdam or on a project anywhere in the world. You will also get:

  • a salary to match your responsibilities;
  • a permanent position;
  • an excellent package;
  • plenty of scope (and a training budget) to develop professionally and personally, including internationally, so that you can continue to grow within your role.
