On the basis of an audit, Bureau Veritas certification agency has again certified Van Oord Nederland and its subsidiaries Mijnster, L. Paans & Zonen and business unit Wicks for the Safety, Health and Environment Contractors’ Checklist (SCC). The new certificate is valid for three years. The SCC is intended to achieve a safer and more healthy working environment and the SCC requirements therefore focus on preventing personal injury and avoiding damage to the environment.
The SCC is a yardstick for management systems relating to the safety, health and environment of contracting companies in the Netherlands. The SCC system is managed by Cooperation for Safety (SSVV), an independent foundation. The SCC is intended for companies performing work involving an increased risk. This work is often performed in factories, plants and on sites and project locations. Examples include mechanical engineering activities, such as construction and maintenance work, structural work and vertical transport.
The certification is in line with the aims of Van Oord to prevent accidents. Following the granting of the ISO 14001 environment certificate in early January 2009, this is the second certificate that Van Oord has received this year.
