Vox Maxima - KNVTS Ship of the Year 2010

Trailing suction hopper dredger Vox Máxima has won the Ship of the Year Award 2010. The award was presented to shipbuilder IHC Merwede by the Royal Netherlands Society of Professionals in Shipping Technology (KNVTS).

The jury awarded the prize to the Vox Máxima because it is the biggest dredging vessel ever constructed in the Netherlands, and because it is cleverly designed and offers excellent transport efficiency. IHC Merwede succeeded in building a fast vessel despite its large hopper capacity and full shape. The ship also offers a number of innovations, including the structure of the single suction pipe and ergonomic layout of the bridge. The Vox Máxima illustrates the leading position that the Netherlands has in the field of dredging technology.
